Product Description

Jotun Steelmaster 60 SB Solvent Based is a solvent based intumescent coating for structural steel exposed to internal environments up to corrosivity category C4 (ISO 12944-2).

Best Uses

Jotun Steelmaster 60SB is a single component solvent based ready to use acrylic thin film intumescent coating for steel. Jotun Steelmaster 60SB has been independently approved for fire protection of structural steel exposed to cellulosic fire. Steelmaster has been specially formulated to be applied over a suitable metal primer as mid coat or finish coat in atmospheric environments. Suitable for application over Jotun approved primers on carbon steel substrates.

Jotun Steelmaster 60SB has been specially formulated as passive fire protection for steel constructions and is suitable for structural steel exposed to internal environments up to corrosivity category C4 (ISO 12944-2), when applied with a compatible Jotun topcoat.

Application

The product can be applied by airless spray with the correct nozzle for the loadings required, typically a nozzle tip of between 19 and (inch/1000 is recommended. Pressure at nozzle (minimum) is 200 bar/2900 psi. and should not be diluted. Dry film thickness per coat: 200-1036 microns Wet film thickness per coat: 270-1400 microns. The film thickness is only achievable by airless spray application in one coat. Surface (touch) dry at 23°C. 30 minutes, all drying times have been measured at a dry film thickness of 700 microns.

Although Steelmaster 60SB is recommended for airless spray application, but it is suitable for stripe coating and small areas, but care must be taken to achieve the specified dry film thickness.

All steel sections must be coated with correct film thickness to achieve the required fire rating. Please refer to the current loading tables. For further advice please contact the technical team at Promain Paints.
