Product Description

FastCoat is LRS’ single component liquid applied pure polyurethane system, which provides fully a bonded, tough and durable seamless waterproofing system for roofs.

Best Uses

Polyurethanes are known for their exceptional strength and elastic properties. FastCoat offers complete systems for waterproofing roofs, balconies, gutters and walkways.

Unlike many alternatives, FastCoat’s fast cure technology offers substantial reductions in application time, saving money and reducing site disruption. Typically showerproof in 30 minutes and fully dried in approximately 4 hours. Smaller projects can often be completed in a day. Its fully reinforced specification makes FastCoat suitable for flat, pitched and vertical applications. Our standard FastCoat system comes with a 10 year guarantee.

Suitable for application onto: OSB3 roofing boards, mineral felt, asphalt, concrete, metal, fibre glass and compatible with standard GRP trims.

Application

CLEANING THE SUBSTRATE
The best method to ensure the surface is clean from loose dirt, dust and natural growth is a power washer. We recommend a minimum of 2000psi power washer. If a power washer is not possible, the contractor must deem the most appropriate method of cleaning that achieves a similar clean to that of a 2000psi power wash. A clean surface is critical for a successful bond of the FastCoat. If the surface is dirty or dusty, FastCoat will only bond to this rather than the substrate it is intended for.

FULLY PREPARED SUBSTRATE
Ensure the substrate is fully prepared before applying any LRS FastCoat Primer or LRS FastCoat Waterproof. All joints / vulnerable areas that are over 3mm will need to be filled using LRS PU Mastic. If joints are not filled this could lead to pinholes within the waterproofing membrane. All brickwork / screed should be checked for cracks and
damage, then repaired where necessary. Any repairs made using concrete will need to be completely dry which is typically 28 days.

PRIMING
Ensure the correct primer is used depending on the substrate, for more information please contact our technical team.

DETAILING
All details must be completed first before the start of the main waterproofing application. Upstands should be detailed up a minimum of 150mm where possible. Any details that do not meet the 150mm height requirement should be terminated either using a termination bar or LRS PU Mastic. FastCoat should be applied up the upstand at the recommended height and fully reinforced using LRS 225gsm Reinforcement Matting.

SNAGGING
Once the BaseCoat is complete, the roof should be snagged to remove any wicks created. This can be done by lightly sanding the wick to remove it with 80 grit sandpaper or similar. Any pinholes within the membrane should be filled using LRS PU Mastic.

FASTCOAT BASECOAT
On completion of the detailing, the FastCoat will need to be applied to the main roof area. This should be done in 2 coats. For FastCoat 10, it should be applied at a coverage rate of 1.25kg per m2 using a 9-inch short piled roller and then fully reinforced using LRS 225gsm Reinforcement Matting. For FastCoat Pro 20 and FastCoat Pro 25, apply at a coverage rate of 1.5kg per m2 using a 9-inch short piled roller and then fully reinforced using LRS 225gsm Reinforcement Matting. The Reinforcement Matting must be fully saturated and embedded, making sure the membrane is free from creases and pinholes. Ensure the FastCoat tins are gridded out over the roof area, so that FastCoat is applied at the correct coverage rate.

FASTCOAT TOPCOAT
FastCoat 10 TopCoat should be applied at a coverage rate of 0.75kg per m2, FastCoat Pro 20 at a coverage rate of 1kg per m², and FastCoat Pro 25 at a coverage rate of 1.4kg per m2. We recommend to cross-roll where possible to ensure the TopCoat is applied evenly across the area.

FASTCOAT TRAFFIC COAT
FastCoat Traffic Coat Holding Coat is applied at a coverage rate of 0.2kg per m2 over the completed FastCoat waterproof. While the holding coat is wet, cast 3kg per m2 of aggregate and fully broadcast. Once this has dried (typically 30 minutes), all loose aggregate should be removed and bagged up for later use. FastCoat Sealer Coat should be applied over the top of the aggregate at 0.2kg per m2, typically drying in around 30 minutes.
