Product Description

PPG Steelguard 701 is a single component, solvent based thin film intumescent coating for fire protection of structural steelwork for up to 120 minutes.

Best Uses

PPG Steelguard 701 is formulated to provide 120 minutes protection from cellulosic fires in C1 - C4 internal and external environments or dry internal C1 environments where no topcoat is required.

  • Provides 120 minutes protection from cellulosic fires
  • Suitable for off site and on site application
  • Up to 1500 microns DFT in a single coat
  • Weather resistant up to 12 months without topcoat provided the coating has been applied in accordance to recommended and is not subject to running or pooling water, high humidity or immersion conditions

Application

Approved primer must be sound, dry and free from any contamination. Stir thoroughly until homogeneous and free of lumps. Adding too much thimmer results in reduced sag resistance and slower cure. Apply using airless spray using nozzle 0.48 - 0.64mm at 20 MPa at 20 - 50°C. Overcoatable with itself between 6 hours and unlimited at 20°C. Also overcoatable with PPG Steelguard 2458 as a suitable topcoat.
